2018 Podcast Shout Outs

I do a lot of driving, and listen to a lot of Podcasts... some i'll only dive into, when i know the guest or care about the subject - and some i will listen to religiously, without fail. 

On this episode - i wanted to give a should out to a bunch of DIY (as in, not got huge companies backing them or sponsoring them) Podcast's which i figure a lot of people who listen to this, will dig.

So - this year I got re-stoked on new music. With thanks to the High Fives Podcast, the Anxious and Angry podcast and the Axe to Grind Podcast - I discovered heaps of rad jams!!

 

So, as ‘something special’ - I made 3 ‘best of 2018’ lists, and I’ll have an episode each week as like a playlist of albums I dug this year. 39 songs, 3 categories - Punk, Hardcore and ‘other’ - and this week, I’m doing the top 13 that fall into the ‘other’ category.

027 - Dave Immerz (Last Nerve // Bad Blood // Vigilante)

027 - DAVE IMMERZ (LAST NERVE // BAD BLOOD // VIGILANTE)

 

In my opinion, Dave changed the game for Australian hardcore - at a time when 'the scene' seemed to be full of division and segregation - Dave's first band - Last Nerve - seemed to win over people from all facets of Australian Hardcore, and paved the way for a lot of younger bands to have a crack at something new and fun. 

 

It took me a while for the planets to align to get this episode recorded - but it was so worth the wait, and i hope you enjoy it!

026 - MARK MOLDRE (Folk Singer Songwriter)

MARK MOLDRE doesn't fall under the usual umbrella of guests i gave on the podcast, but his story is as fantastic as his guitar playing and song writing abilities - captivating yet calming - like watching the fire place on a cold winters night, with a big glass of gin.

I've been lucky to play in bands with some fantastic musicians, and even luckier to be in a band with what i consider to be some of the best front people in Australian Hardcore... Gabe Delaine is one of those people. 

Gabe's eclectic taste in music is as interesting as his outlook on the world around us - his perspective always makes you reassess where you stood with something, and challenge your norms.
